Dale Earnhardt Jr who has seen the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in his NASCAR career, from up close and from afar both. So naturally, it’s a big deal what he said about NASCAR history maker Daniel Suarez.

The Trackhouse Racing driver became the first driver from Mexico to have won a NASCAR Cup Series race.

Earnhardt Jr commended this feat while also acknowledging the rags to riches trajectory Suarez’s career has taken.

“There’s a point in a driver’s career where they are relegated down into lesser equipment. Once that happens, not many of them turn the corner and go back the other way and find their way back into competitive cars,” he said.

“So Daniel’s story is descriptive of a Hollywood movie.”

Suarez’s NASCAR win is a big deal for the sport according to Dale Earnhardt Jr

In a recent interview, Dale Earnhardt Jr elaborated on how important Daniel Suarez’s win could prove to be in the future for the sport.

“Globally, the sport needs international flair and different drivers from different parts of the world competing and being successful,” he said.

Dale Jr. described that the excitement, the emotions were palpable as he was about to take the checked flag. “You could see that emotion in his voice in his post-race interview about the difficult, challenging journey that he’s had, and we all are aware of that as it’s happened over the last several years,” he said.

The JR Motorsports owner explained how aside from Suarez being a “really nice guy”his win has enabled bigger things for the sport.

“For me, it was a great day for Daniel for sure, but it was also a big step forward in trying to kind of grow the popularity and awareness of our sport outside of its current bubble,” Earnhardt Jr added.
